Day Six

The last verses of this letter give us a glimpse of the loneliness of this great wrestler and runner. Many were leaving him because of persecution. “But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed” (2 Timothy 4:17). This is the secret of Paul’s success. This is why he could fight a good fight and finish the course. He was alone as far as human help was concerned. Did he lose heart? Was he afraid? No! He fought the good fight of faith, finished the course and kept the faith (4:7).

Day Five

Ever since Jesus had laid His hand on him, Paul seemed to have been competing in the arena and running in the stadium. There had been scarcely a moment of rest. It had required intense training and strenuous wrestling all the way through. But within—inside his heart—peace reigned. His questions had been answered. His sins had been forgiven. His needs had been supplied. Peace within but an athlete’s contest without—this is the true Christian life.

Day Four

The Bible is also called the sword of the Spirit. God wants to equip us with his truth so when the battle is on and our faith is under attack, we can stand firm and strong! The only way to get equipped is to read the word and obey it. When we get God’s truth inside us and apply it to the way we live, we become dangerous Christians!

Day Three

In Chapter 2, Paul reminds us how important it is to stick closely to the word of God. We should run away in a full-on sprint from lust, and run just as fast to God. Paul charged Timothy to turn from wickedness, ungodliness, foolishness and anything else that would keep him from fulfilling God’s calling on his life.

Which relationship path are you on?

Listen to this powerful message from Pastor Brian about the 2 different ways to approach romantic relationships.

Day Two

BE STRONG! Making disciples takes faith and requires strength. Specifically, strength “in the grace that is in Christ Jesus” (2 Tim 2:1). God calls us to follow the example of three different types of people: soldiers, athletes, and farmers. There’s so much to learn from all three. A soldier submits to authority, an athlete is disciplined, and a farmer works hard. Building the kingdom requires submission, discipline and hard work, and in the end it’s rewarding!

SERMON TO LISTEN TO:

Listen to this message from Pastor Brian about how God calls the church to be more like a battleship than a cruise ship, and how He calls us to live on mission each and every day.

Day One

2 Timothy is the last letter Paul wrote before he was killed. More than ever, he charges Timothy to run after God’s calling on his life and to make disciples, who make disciples. Throughout these 4 Chapters, Paul makes it clear that he wants to see the church continue to flourish and grow, under Timothy’s leadership, long after he’s passed on. He gives several warnings and helpful reminders about how we can grow in our faith, maximize our giftings and also develop as leaders.
